Las Aventuras de La Sra. Owens: Gijón, España

Gijón es una ciudad costera en el principado de Asturias en el norte de España. Se conoce por su playa de San Lorenzo y su patrimonio maritimo. Hay un barrio de pescadores en el centro en el muelle. La gastronomía de todo Asturias incluso Gijón es para mi, la mejor comida de toda España que he visitado. Allí decidí probar la fabada asturiana, un guiso y un plato único de esta región. Me encantaron los sabores distintos. ¡Se me hizo agua la boca! Después de almuerzo encontramos una feria de comida portueguesa donde he probabdo el pasteis de nata. ¡Estuvo tan sabrosa! Pasé un rato a la playa sacando fotas y disfrutando el ambiente tranquila. También subí por el parque conocido por su escultura "Elogio del Horizonte" y su vista de la playa abajo. Terminé el día a un café en la corazón de la ciudad conversando con algunos Asturianos. Me habían ayudado con una investigación para la clase de Variedades en Español. Tuve el privilegio de escucharles hablar en "Babel" un dialecto de español. Me enamoré con Gijón y su gente.

Gijón is a coastal city in the principality of Asturias in the northern part of Spain. It is known for its beach San Lorenzo and its maritime heritage. There is a fishing district located on the pier in the center of the city. The gastronomy of Asturias including Gijón has the best food that I have eaten in all of Spain that I have visited. I decided to try Asturian fabada which is a unique stew from this region of Spain. I loved the distinct flavors and it was truly mouth watering! After lunch we found a Portuguese food festival where I tried pasteis de nata which is kind of like a custard cream pie. It was so delicious! I spent a little time at the beach taking some pictures and enjoying the relazing environment. I also went up to the park known for it's sculpture "Elogio del Horizonte" and the view of the beach below. I ended the day at a coffee shop in the heart of the city chatting with some locals. They helped me with my research for my class Varieties in Spanish. I had the privilege to hear them speak in "Babel" a very distinct dialect of Spanish. I fell in love with Gijón and the people.
